If you’re already good, we’ll make you even better. That’s a promise. So seize this opportunity to develop into the professional you aspire to be.

Your job

In your first few weeks at ABN AMRO, you’ll follow the Corporate Banking Graduate Programme together with your fellow graduates, during which time you’ll get to know the corporate bank you’ll later be working for. Besides a broad introduction to ABN AMRO, you’ll participate in hands-on training in the fields of Accounting, Financial Analysis, Financial Modelling, Corporate Banking, Credit Risk and personal development. Trainings will be delivered by those at the very top of their field – including university lecturers, professional trainers and managers at ABN AMRO. Together, they will give you a solid basis for further development within the bank. At the same time, you will build an international network of graduates spanning several parts of International Clients and Capital Markets Solutions. A great start to your Corporate Banking Graduate Programme.

Following the initial general training, you’ll specialize in the Energy, Commodities and Transportation Clients (ECT Clients) department. This means you’ll become very familiar with the different sectors, our clients and the markets – all the while being mentored by a designated account manager. You’ll build an in-depth knowledge of the international companies operating in the energy, commodities and transportation markets – and you’ll even help identify acquisition opportunities in those industries.

From day one, you will work as a junior account manager in one of the ECT teams or work at one of the other teams within International Clients. Over the course of a two year programme (20 months), you’ll be fully trained to become a professional account manager. Your daily activities will include (assisting in) preparing client acquisitions; writing terms; writing yearly reviews of clients’ credit facilities; discussing proposals / transactions with your supervisor, risk managers and credit analysts; developing a deep understanding of the market; and building your understanding of product offerings within International Clients. In addition, you’ll carry out various independent assignments within the ECT Clients department.

Your working environment

Our ECT Client department offers financial solutions to the energy, commodities and transportation industries. Our clients are medium-large to large (international) companies involved in those industries. Given the volatile and vulnerable markets in which we operate, our account managers need to be constantly aware of what’s going on, in order to keep up with the ever-changing demand for financial products and services from our clients. The main products/services provided to match our clients’ needs are Project Finance, Commodity Finance, Asset-based Finance, Treasury Products and general banking products. We operate internationally across three time zones, which means a global mind-set is a must.

Working at ABN AMRO means becoming even better at what you do. We understand our clients and translate their aspirations into joint success to earn their trust. We want our customers to understand our products and our way of working. This means that we sometimes have to say ‘no’ if the risks are too high for a customer. Serving the clients’ interests is also a question of offering, and communicating, a transparent range of products. Banking is our business, the world is our challenge.

All our Corporate Banking Graduate Programmes start with several weeks of general training. Following the initial phase of the programme, you’ll start working directly with others in the business on as many different ECT portfolios as possible. As a result, you will be trained as an account manager within two and a half years. In addition, you’ll get the chance to broaden your basic knowledge of the product side of International Clients. You’ll also take part in several training sessions on general banking expertise and personal development.
During the entire ECT Clients Graduate programme, you’ll receive guidance from a Pool Manager, assignment supervisors, trainers and a mentor. In addition, ABN AMRO offers an ongoing training curriculum that allows you to increase your technical knowledge, deepen your understanding of financial markets and products, and further develop your personal skills.
