At a glance

Are you socially aware as well as truly analytical? Do you get the fact that performance is all about teamwork, without shrinking away from responsibility? Then you may just be the right candidate for the Corporate Finance track of our Corporate Banking Graduate Programme. Work with mergers and acquisitions, gain knowledge of the sector, learn to value businesses, and engross yourself in the capital structure of Corporate Finance’s clients. You’ll be an all-round investment banker within three years.

Tell us your story. We are curious! If you're already good, we'll make you even better. That's a promise. So seize this opportunity to develop into the professional you aspire to be.

Your job

In your first few weeks at ABN AMRO, you’ll follow the Corporate Banking Graduate Programme together with your fellow graduates, during which time you’ll get to know the corporate bank you’ll later be working for. Besides a broad introduction to ABN AMRO, you’ll participate in hands-on training in the fields of Accounting, Financial Analysis, Financial Modelling, Corporate Banking, Credit Risk, and personal development. Trainings will be delivered by those at the very top of their field – including university lecturers, professional trainers and managers at ABN AMRO. Together, they will give you a solid basis for further development within the bank. At the same time, you will build an international network of graduates spanning several parts of International Clients & Corporate Finance. A great start to your Corporate Banking Graduate Programme.

Following the initial general training, you’ll start work in the Corporate Finance Associate Pool, where you’ll be trained to become an all-round investment banker within three years. You won’t be tied to a specific sector or specialisation; rather, you’ll build up a valuable network and broad on-the-job experience – including via rotations in:

• Sector Origination teams, focusing on Technology, Media and Telecom (TMT), Retail & Consumer, Industrials & Services, Energy, Commodities & Transportation (ECT) and Financial Institutions & Governments (FIG)
• Mergers and acquisitions (M&A)
• Equity Capital Markets (ECM)
• Capital Structuring & Advisory (CSA)

You’ll also get the chance to enrich your training with a rotation at one of our offices abroad.

It sounds like a cliché, but every day is different in Corporate Finance. You’ll get straight down to business for our clients: often well-known, demanding companies that expect innovative, sound financial solutions. Because of this, it’s important that you work according to the core values of ABN AMRO Large Corporates: know your client to their very heart, and surprise them with your outstanding sector knowledge. Right from the start, you’ll fully participate in project teams with Corporate Finance specialists who operate globally. Your work will include:

• Advising on strategy, company planning and capital structure;
• Analysing and describing companies and sectors;
• Making financial models and value analyses;
• Developing presentations for (potential) clients;
• Carrying out due diligence proceedings;
• Drafting transaction documents.

Because the job is ever-changing, you’re guaranteed to learn a lot in a short space of time. And all the knowledge that you gain will stand you in good stead for a great career at ABN AMRO.

Your working environment

The Large Corporates department is part of ABN AMRO International Clients. We help big organisations, governments, and private equity and institutional investors to reach their strategic goals, by combining our in-depth sector knowledge with broad, integrated financial expertise.

Currently, around one hundred Corporate Finance professionals work in our offices in Amsterdam, Singapore, New York, Antwerpen, Frankfurt and Paris. We offer advice on mergers and acquisitions, capital market transactions and private placements. We also give financial and strategic advice.

Working at ABN AMRO means becoming even better at what you do. We understand clients, translate their ambitions into joint success and thus earn their trust. We want our clients to understand our products. It's why we sometimes say 'no' if the risk attached to a product is too great for the client. Serving the client's interests is also a question of offering – and communicating – a transparent range of products. Banking is our business, the world is our challenge.

Your profile

You’re a truly analytical type with outstanding social and communication skills. These are important characteristics, because you’re going to work with the most diverse set of colleagues. You’re entrepreneurial, have a healthy dose of self-confidence, and enjoy achieving good results with your team. You’re also quick-witted and have the ability to convince others, while of course keeping an eye on your colleagues’ reactions. Even if we have to get a job done under considerable time pressure, you defend the quality of your work and are a positive addition to the department.

We offer a challenging position with plenty of opportunities, which is why we set clear requirements.
Do you think you're a good fit?

Check out your profile:

• Master’s degree with above-average grades;
• No more than two years of work experience;
• Relevant extracurricular activities, and/or experience abroad;

What we offer

All our Corporate Banking Graduate Programmes start with several weeks of general training. From there, you’ll be coached to become an all-round investment banker within three years, by fully participating in various different project teams.

During your entire time in the Corporate Finance Pool, you’ll receive guidance from a Pool Manager, project team supervisors, trainers and a mentor. In addition, ABN AMRO offers an ongoing training curriculum that allows you to increase your technical knowledge, deepen your understanding of financial markets and products, and further develop your personal skills.
