The responsibility of group business control entails three themes: The first is to create a robust and maintain a control framework with country reports, and monitoring KPIs and budget adherence. The second is to be the finance business partner of the management teams and supporting them in realizing their (financial) objectives. The third is to have a proactive outlook on risks and opportunities and drive consequent actions.

Group Business Control focus is to initiate and execute group wide planning, reviews and optimizations by working closely with the business and the procurement control team and based on reporting, analysis and monitoring of key drivers among with the procurement spend buckets.

Influence strategy from a financial perspective

  • E2E responsibility of the Business Control Process and performance monitoring for their client groups (Central and OPCos); including ensuring the development, monitoring & interpreting of (functional) shadow P&Ls as required;
  • Provide finance business partnership to the department MD and supporting the MD in realizing its (financial) objectives;
  • Initiate E2E planning, reporting & analysis for designated domains to review and steer strategic positioning, tactical decisions and investment opportunities / negotiations;
  • Lead the process in collaboration with Management Team to set LRP/budget strategy, communicate to countries, and pro-actively analyse results to redirect where required. Challenge group performance and initiate improvement /close the gap initiatives for their client group;
  • Responsible for forecast accuracy and overview of risks and opportunities and impact within countries;
  • Financial sparring partner for the managing director and senior management team; follow market to identify risks and opportunities.

Lead planning & control processes

  • Lead E2E planning and control process for designated client groups;
  • Responsible for monthly reporting, forecast accuracy, listing risks & opportunities and impact for countries as well as central;
  • Responsible for design & upholding of the control framework and adherence to relevant regulations;
  • Integrative approach with respect to commercial & technical areas. Such as challenging on technical assumptions, execution capability and capacity phasing in business cases;
  • Review business cases from a financial perspective on rationale and perform post mortem analysis;
  • Work closely with the Procurement Control team to ensure review, steering and reporting on the (Procurement) spend buckets.

General and Leadership

  • Coordinate and standardize across the Group;
  • Responsible for the financial translation of business issues and developments;
  • Participate in substantial operational and financial review meetings with management;
  • Internally focus activity and resources to improve service to the finance community;
  • Create and foster a proactive approach to smarter, cost effective support and implementation models that challenge status quo;
  • Promote business control functions and capabilities in the Group control team;
  • Continuously seek improvements and ways to strengthen the Group Control team. Build high performance teams that are able to both support and challenge the business;
  • Manage through delegation. Build high levels of trust to increase team performance;
  • Develop, motivate and retain key staff by setting challenging objectives and demonstrating strong leadership.
Functie-eisen
  • Masters in BA or other relevant field. Accounting or controlling qualification is a pre;
  • Minimum 8 years prior professional experience in Financial or Business Controlling area;
  • Minimum of 3 years of people management experience;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a dynamic, multinational finance environment with proven ability to work with professionals of different cultural background, professions and levels;
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and in writing, another foreign language like German is a pre;
  • Analytically strong and pragmatic with a long term vision;
  • Ability to apply sound business practices and work with business leaders;
  • Result driven, output focused team player;
  • Being able to build bridges and create support for improvements;
  • Being able to build high performance teams of professionals;
  • Being able to translate budgets in business cases into operational impact assessments;
  • Proactive and self-reliant/ independent self-starter;
  • Fits into ambitious, result-driven, down-to-earth culture;
  • Ability to cope with high pressure assignments and used to meeting strict deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy. Maintaining poise under pressure.
