In your first few weeks at ABN AMRO, you’ll follow the Corporate Institutional Banking Graduate Programme together with your fellow graduates, during which time you’ll get to know the corporate institutional bank you’ll later be working for. Besides a broad introduction to ABN AMRO, you’ll participate in hands-on training in the fields of Accounting, Financial Analysis, Financial Modelling, Corporate Banking, Credit Risk and personal development. Trainings will be delivered by those at the very top of their field – including university lecturers, professional trainers and managers at ABN AMRO. Together, they will give you a solid basis for further development within the bank. At the same time, you will build an international network of graduates spanning several parts of Corporate Institutional Banking. A great start of your career!Following the initial general training, you’ll specialize in the Global Sector departments. This means you’ll become very familiar with the different sectors, our clients and the markets - all the while being mentored by a designated account manager. You’ll build an in-depth knowledge of the international companies operating in the natural resources and transportation markets - and you’ll even help identify acquisition opportunities in those industries.

 From day one, you will work as a junior account manager or analyst in one of the Global Sector teams. Over the course of your programme, you’ll be fully trained to become a professional account manager/banker. Your daily activities will include (assisting in) preparing client acquisitions; writing terms; writing yearly reviews of clients’ credit facilities; discussing proposals / transactions with your supervisor, risk managers and credit analysts; developing a deep understanding of the market; and building your understanding of product offerings within Corporate Institutional Banking. In addition, you’ll carry out various independent assignments within different departments.

Our Global Sector department offers financial solutions to the basic materials energy, commodities and transportation industries. Our clients are medium-large to large (international) companies involved in those industries. Given the volatile and vulnerable markets in which we operate, our account managers need to be constantly aware of what’s going on, in order to keep up with the ever-changing demand for financial products and services from our clients. The main products/services provided to match our clients’ needs are Project Finance, Commodity Finance, Asset-based Finance, Treasury Products and general banking products. We operate internationally across three time zones, which means a global mind-set is a must.

All our Corporate & Institutional Banking Graduate Programmes start with 5 weeks of general training. Following the initial phase of the programme, you’ll start working directly with others in the business on as many different Global Sector portfolios as possible. As a result, you will be trained as an account manager/banker within about 20 months. In addition, you’ll get the chance to broaden your basic knowledge of the product side of Corporate & Institutional Banking. You’ll also take part in several training sessions on specialised banking expertise and personal development.
 During the entire Global Sector programme, you’ll receive guidance from a Pool Manager, assigned supervisors and coaches. In addition, ABN AMRO offers an ongoing training curriculum that allows you to increase your technical knowledge, deepen your understanding of financial markets and products, and further develop your personal skills. You’ll also regularly get together with the Corporate & Institutional Banking Graduate Programme’s training group.
