ING is looking for a passionate and inspiring Head of Information Management

for the Finance Department of ING Domestic Bank Netherlands (DBNL).

Your role

As Head of Information Management Finance DBNL, you manage 2 teams of 20-25 FTE, consisting of information managers, business analysts and 2 chapter leads. You are responsible for the change and run of the Finance applications, which are essential for timely month end closings, processes and data. You are able to properly assess the various change requests, to enable proper priority setting and stakeholder management. You play an important role in enabling the Unite BE+NL program from a Finance perspective, in close cooperation with the Belgium colleagues. You report to the head of Financial Accounting (FA) DBNL and are part of the Management Team FA.

We work according to the Agile principles in self-organizing multidisciplinary (busdevops) teams. Showing flexibility, taking initiative, collaboration and actively entering into a positive dialogue with others are important aspects of this way of working.

Finance Information Management is responsible for the change on and the run of the DBNL owned Finance applications. It manages the information/data flow and the related information/data stores for both Financial Accounting and Finance Business Advice. As such, the team is co-responsible:

  • To ensure the timely delivery of mandatory ING reports towards regulators (mainly DNB and ECB).
  • to ensure that changes in ING Banking products and related systems are correctly translated and implemented in the Finance architecture to ensure a proper and timely reflection in the financial accounts, the finance data warehouses and the various financial reports.
  • For the changes in Management Information used by the Domestic Board and the commercial organization.
  • To ensure that we meet the continuously increasing demand of the regulators in time.

Information managers and business analysts perform impact analyses, specify requirements, set up acceptance criteria for developers and provide support during development, testing and implementation of changes towards stakeholders and end users.

Finance Information Management plays an important role in the strategic Unite be+nl program, in which ING Netherlands and Belgium intensify their cooperation, harmonize products and processes and integrate platforms. The team therefore works closely with the various Product-, Channels- and Support Tribes and many parties within Risk and Finance.  

Your most important work

  • You manage the local Finance (FA and MA) IT infrastructure and required changes, interacting with global teams responsible for the Finance and Risk TOM and Global Data management.
  • You define the vision and roadmap for the department, the Finance information flows and data stores, and you monitor adherence and progress.
  • You bring the culture of continuous learning and cooperation to a higher level and you ensure continuous development of the information management expertise.
  • You empower the people and create a high performing team of self-managing and well-cooperating information managers and business analysts, who demonstrate elements like “we take ownership, we have the expertise, we challenge and are in control and we work together with enthusiasm”.
  • You ensure that the department supports stakeholders in the identification and mitigation of risks and issues related to various (non-financial) risk categories.
  • You are a role model towards the department and make an important contribution to realizing changes or supporting information managers and business analysts for a part of your time.
  • Collaborate with different parties and levels in the organization, further improving the relationship with developers and operations staff. These include English-speaking Indians from an external service provider, partly in an offshore setting.

Your education, background and competencies

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience in managing a transformation to the Agile Way of Working.
  • Management experience in an agile environment with strong people management skills.
  • Experience in running complex change projects in a data-driven environment of a bank and/or Finance environment.
  • Sound knowledge and experience with IT and large databases.
  • Strong analytical skills with a sharp eye for detail, while overseeing the larger picture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Dutch and English.
  • Knowledge of banking products, accounting and accounting relationships is an advantage
