Chapter Lead COORF Accounting Tribe
The Accounting Tribe sits right at the heart of the Bank’s complexity. We translate our rather complex primarily Wholesale Banking business activities into financial records in line with the latest regulatory and tax requirements. Demand therefore can come from two angles [1] new or changed products/business lines and 2] Tax Authorities and Central Banks. Both angles trigger / urge us to reconsider and to adjust the way we account for.
In a nutshell for this role it is crucial to maintain strong pro-active relations with business stakeholders on the one hand and key internal and external specialists from a tax and regulatory perspective on the other hand. Strong affinity with accounting /controlling is a non-negotiable pre-requisite. You will be steering, nurturing and maturing the craftmanship of a team of product accounting specialists.
What you’ll do
You will join the Accounting Tribe within the COO Risk & Finance organization. You will be part of the tribe leadership team. This team ensures effective collaboration with other tribes, steers the way we mature our own capability, regulates the adoption of new big change initiatives and structurally improves the way we work as a Tribe to boost effectiveness. You will work in a complex, international, multi-cultural setting. The Chapter Lead reports to the Tribe Lead and steers a chapter of Business Analysts.
Besides the above, as Chapter Lead you are responsible for the facilitation of the personal development and evaluation of the members in your chapter (15 – 20 persons). You get energy from sharing your knowledge with others and you enjoy coaching (on knowledge, skills, competences and behavior) to get the best out of people and to motivate them to strive for the best results. Besides, you also get energy from motivating others to actively share their knowledge with other squad members. You contribute to defining and implementing the strategy of the Tribe to meet our goals in the area of Accounting. As a leader you will also help the PO’s in setting the right priorities and in achieving their deliveries. Furthermore, it is key that you are able to use your innovative mindset to come up with ideas to further enhance our accounting practice.
You will take up responsibility, steer strategy and ensure execution based on facts and data. You have the managerial courage to question and take decisions. You are able to bring people together to deliver in line with our purpose and you empower teams to act autonomously, think out of the box and hold them accountable. You bring an inspiring and energetic leadership style to the teams in order to guide teams through change.
How to succeed
We are looking for a senior professional with a desire to work across the formal boundaries of the organization [i.e. across tribes and functions]. A natural interest in business and accounting is required to be able to mature the craftmanship in the Chapter. You will also be playing a crucial role in help sizing the work of large new regulatory and business initiatives and support execution especially for those squads that are working in your area of expertise. The Chapter Lead should be capable of quickly understanding a complex environment. Excellent stakeholder management skills are key for this position.
Furthermore, we are looking for a passionate and inspiring manager whom is capable of setting innovating steps in your expertise area according to the latest trends and standards. You are a real ambassador of the global ING Way of Working and Orange Code whilst always looking for effective end to end collaboration to improve effectiveness. You have a proven track record in Finance, as well as Banking. You have a strong drive to stay up to date with the internal and external Finance-trends. Besides that you get energy from sharing your knowledge with others and you enjoy coaching (on knowledge, skills, competences and behavior) to get the best out of people.
