Data Analyst for S&I Reporting in Amsterdam

Management, Reporting & Analytics (MRA) is looking for an experienced Data Analyst / BI Specialist with Risk / Finance background in the banking industry to support in Data visualisation and Reporting related projects.

As a data analyst / BI Specialist in our team you will have the opportunity to interact with Senior management of ING who uses reports and dashboards created by RDA to steer ING Bank’s credit risk portfolios and create the reports / dashboards which will be used by a wider Risk community.

You will support the reporting process by:

  • Interacting with Stakeholders and translating their reporting wishes into data requirements
  • running SAS projects to extract required information from source systems;
  • interpreting and analysing data (e.g. looking at trends / anomalies);
  • create and support Dashboards;
  • embedding the knowledge and way of analysing the data in the Risk & Finance organisation;

In this process, you will work closely with (senior) staff of  both Risk and Finance, and interact with business line teams for specific requests.  Successful candidates will drive process improvements and further improve ways of visualising Dashboards and reports.

The Management, Reporting & Analytics (MRA) department is part of the ING Risk & Finance COO organisation providing data ready for use, reporting and analysis services to internal and external stakeholders.

MRA is an international and enthusiastic team with the purpose of:

  • providing stakeholders with fit-for-purpose risk reports and analyses;
  • bringing risk reporting and analytics to the next level by driving innovation and standardisation across the global risk function;

MRA follows an agile way of working in which various squads have been defined. These are high performing, self-steering teams each with their own purpose.

You will be part of an international and enthusiastic team.  Members of the squad have frequent interaction with other departments in the ING Bank organization and as such have an opportunity to discuss and get insights into specific ING portfolios. Openness in communication and “can do” mentality are important characteristics of the department.

How to succeed

We are looking for a candidate who is proficient and has proven experience in analysing and visualising data using BI Tooling, combined with background in Finance and Risk, preferably Credit Risk. The successful candidate has strong data analysis skills, proven experience in Data visualisation and prototyping of reports / dashboards,  has attention for detail and performs well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Bachelor or Master in computer science or other science which has equipped you with the necessary statistics knowledge and database / programming skills;
  • 5+ years of experience in a data/analytics oriented function;
  • Indepth knowledge and solid experience with BI Dashboarding tooling  (SAS Visual Analytics / Power BI / Cognos);
  • Experience with SAS EG is an added plus;
  • Affinity with data and querying these data with SQL is a must;
  • Critical mind-set with respect to what is delivered;
  • Hands on mentality with regard to data;
  • Have ability to cope with internal and external pressure;
  • Communicative, accurate and able to work with challenging deadlines;
  • Be a good team player, able to contribute in a multi-cultural team;
  • Fluency in English both written and verbal (work language).
