The Senior Capex Auditor position is a versatile and independent position working as part of the Internal Audit Team that mainly focuses on providing assurance to the Management Board of Schiphol Group on controls surrounding capital investments including the related financial processes. This newly created dedicated audit role is strategically critical given the amounts invested in recent years and the years to come by the Schiphol Group. Intended capex investment excluding Group expansions in 2020 and 2021 is Euro 1.5 billion.

In your role as Senior Capex Auditor, you will provide independent and objective assurance to the Management Board and Senior Management that controls with respect to primarily capex expenditure and related processes are in place and working as intended ensuring risks in this key area for Schiphol are being mitigated. You will also undertake reviews, also providing recommendations for control improvements in response to risks as with an audit, yet without providing an audit opinion. In order to ensure improvements are embedded, the timely follow up by management of the recommendations is also a key element of the role as is contributing to the further development of internal audit activities and the positioning of the department.

The Senior Capex Auditor is an experienced professionally qualified Auditor with a chartered accountant (RA) qualification. You are to:

• have demonstrable relevant experience, in which you have preferably worked as an RA auditor at one of the larger accountancy firms or an internal audit department.
• Experience with large capital investment /project /portfolio programs leading to an understanding of how investment projects are executed (lifecycle), the risks involved at the different project stages and the various roles including that of external parties.
• Be aware of the privileged role Internal Audit has within an organization, dealing with potentially sensitive topics in an open transparent manner whilst remaining independent and objective (both being and being perceived as).
• Be comfortable with connecting with peers, senior management and internal customers; board presence.
• Be an ambassador for the topic of risk management, internal controls and the role that audit has supporting management to address its risks whilst at the same time driving improvements in a practical manner.
