Finance Control Specialist strengthening the ICFR framework
Your Work Environment Group Finance / Reporting Control Management (RCM) is the corporate staff department responsible for the Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR), contract management of our external auditor, Finance related internal control frameworks and ad hoc advice and support projects related to finance and control. In this capacity the team is the linking pin between Group Finance and the other corporate departments, local ING entities and shared service centers. The department supports internal stakeholders within Group Finance and the rest of ING by ensuring that the processes, controls and their testing is performed in line with the internal and external reporting requirements. Other internal stakeholders are non-financial risk departments, enterprise risk management business representatives, internal and external auditors.
Tasks of RCM include maintaining the day-to-day relationship with the local finance control officers and ownership for implementing the requirements leading to a sound internal control over global reporting processes. RCM operates in a dynamic environment as requirements for financial and regulatory reporting are continuously increasing. The RCM team is diverse, has a dynamic culture, characterised by open, direct and informal communication, with a focus on team work, timely delivery and quality.
Your Role
As a Finance Control Specialist, you will support RCM team in advising and monitoring on ICFR to the corporate departments, ING entities and shared service centers. In addition, you will support the RCM team in the ICFR sign off activities for ING Group. Other tasks may include monitoring, reporting and advising on finance control areas within ING. . You are strongly result-oriented, apply a structured way of working and you have a sound knowledge of internal controls over financial reporting. You are hands-on, like to work on multiple tasks and dare to speak up. The role offers an excellent opportunity to grow to a more senior position within RCM and / or ING.
Your most important tasks will include:
Supporting coordination and participation in the ICFR/SOX404 sign-off process cycle;
Supporting the team with the preparation and organisation of the ICFR governance meetings;
Helping entities with the implementation of internal controls in line with the guidance to ensure a sound control environment;
Taking part in investigations and deep dives into various finance control and accounting matters.
Assisting entities with the implementation of the Process Control Standard on Financial and Regulatory reporting;
Assisting in the coordination of our external auditor account, including monitoring of independence and external auditor's budget; and
Contributing to the organisation of the annual Global knowledge exchange. This exchange is held for ING’s global internal control community, focusses on controls on reporting and provides a platform for sharing knowledge in this area. The internal control community consists of hundreds of ING colleagues around the world. including country CFOs.
Who are we looking for, your profile & competencies:
An academic degree in Finance or Economics, preferably supplemented by an (international equivalent of) RA or CIA certificate or studying for this
4+ years of work experience in (external/internal) audit, preferably with a big-4 or in an international environment
A sound understanding of internal controls, preferably the Sarbanes-Oxley Act
You are very ambitious and eager to grow within RCM and ING
You have a hands-on, structured and organised approach and a healthy dose of organisation sensitivity
You are convincing in your work and critical (in a positive sense) of your own performance and that of others
You are a quick learner, a superb team player, have a strong focus on stakeholders, supported by good collaboration skills.
You are fluent in English (both writing and speaking)
