Operational Risk Manager in Amsterdam

Beschrijving

Do you want to join our transition from reactive and structured risk management to pro-active and continuous risk management? Then apply for the position of ORM advisor in the Non-Financial Risk (NFR) management team of ING Netherlands.

The opportunity

We are looking for an energetic professional with sound knowledge of both risk management and banking processes to bring our team forward in realizing our NFR purpose: to manage risks by desire and design throughout the organization, unleashing the power of data, risk expertise, and people to help the bank stay safe and sound, and develop new and sustainable ways of doing business.

As an ORM officer you will be the trusted advisor for our business partners. You will be knowledgeable, creative, resolute, and persuasive in your advice, to ensure INGs products and processes remain safe and secure.

The team

You will be working in Tribe NFR (Non-Financial Risk) within ING Domestic Bank Netherlands. We are the second line risk function responsible for independently advising and challenging management on their non-financial risk landscape through risk identification, risk management, monitoring and reporting. Within NFR you will be working in a self-organizing squad, together with non-financial risk professionals, with various backgrounds and expertises, focusing on a cluster of business areas and processes.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Together with your squad members you are the NFR point of contact for your business partners to challenge and advise them in designing and operating their processes in a safe, secure, and compliant way.

  • You will become an NFR-expert in various business processes and its interdependencies, enabling you to identify, evaluate, and monitor key risks and mitigation strategies effectively.

  • You will strive for real impact by prioritizing your attention to those run-processes and change initiatives that potentially run the highest risks.

  • You will participate in risk assessments initiated by the business, but also on areas identified by yourself or requested by other stakeholders, like supervisors. You will closely monitor the adequacy and effectiveness of the follow up of risk mitigating actions.

  • You will make new emerging risks and risks that are out of appetite transparent and ensure adequate reporting to (top) management.

  • You will be a trusted risk advisor by carefully balancing various stakeholder's perspectives and different interests within clear boundaries.

  • You will follow the NFR framework and processes and contribute to continuous improvement of their quality and effectiveness by suggesting (and leading) simplification, automation, and data-driven initiatives.

How to succeed

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.

  • You have an academic background (a master’s degree is a plus) and have 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.

  • You have knowledge of Non-Financial Risk and risk management in the broad sense.

  • You have knowledge of retail- and commercial banking products and processes.

  • You are an energetic team player who is prepared to take initiative and responsibility.

  • You are analytical: you can make connections, recognize risks, assess impact, and come up with creative solutions that bring forward the business.

  • You can communicate clearly, concisely, and respectfully to colleagues and other stakeholders both verbally and in writing.

  • You have a flexible attitude and are stress resistant in a dynamic environment.

  • You are self-motivated by nature and have an eye for detail and quality.

  • You have a good command of the English language, both verbally and in writing.
