Financial Risk Manager in Amsterdam

Besides conducting day-to-day risk monitoring and risk management activities (including risk oversight), your main set of responsibilities is captured by:

• Provide a risk advice and opinion on investment proposals within Developed Markets Equities and Emerging Markets Equities;
• Provide risk analysis related to Developed Markets Equities and Emerging Markets Equities towards the Investment Committees, Asset Management Risk Committee and Clients (directly / indirectly);
• Review and assess the setup and implementation of the Mandate for the asset classes Developed Markets Equities and Emerging Markets Equities for each client;
• Perform ongoing risk monitoring and risk management activities on Developed Markets Equities and Emerging Markets Equities, and the investment- and trading activities, and best execution for Developed Markets Equities and Emerging Markets Equities;
• Carry out comprehensive risk reporting on Developed Markets Equities and Emerging Markets Equities, and take ownership of risk monitoring and management processes;
• Contribute to the further development, maintenance and update of quantitative analytics to support the asset risk monitoring framework;
• Act as second line Risk Management representative towards internal and external stakeholders (Investment Teams, Clients, Regulator, Auditor, etc.) and representing the CFRO/IRM department in the Asset Class Review processes and Annual Mandate Review processes.
• Maintaining open and constructive relationship with both Portfolio Management and Fiduciary Management.

As a Financial Risk Manager you are a team player and at the same time you are hands-on and able to work with considerable autonomy. You have well-developed communication skills, strong analytical skills and a solution-oriented mindset. High standards for the quality of your work and your organizational sensitivity are well developed. Accuracy, pro-activeness and self-motivation come naturally to you. You are authentic, able to connect and have a natural proactive approach.
Additionally we ask for:

• An academic degree in the relevant field of expertise (Economics, Econometrics or Finance) or similar background; CFA, VBA, CAIA, FRM or relevant certifications are a strong plus;
• At least 8-10 years of relevant experience in the asset management environment of which a substantial part within a risk management role or position;
• Good knowledge and experience with financial instruments, financial markets, the asset classes Developed Markets Equities and Emerging Markets Equities and the operating model of pension funds;
• Being digitally savvy and having a strong digitalization mindset;
• Accurate, initiative taker, pro-active, self-motivating;
• Strong presentation skills, comfortable with interacting with and challenging senior management, and working within a large organization with multiple stakeholders ;
• Proficient in English verbal and written;
• Knowledge of Dutch is preferred but not mandatory.
