Your responsibilities as DGS coordinator

The money in Dutch bank accounts is legally protected by the Dutch Deposit Guarantee (the deposit guarantee scheme, DGS). If a bank goes bankrupt, De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) will make sure that account holders get their money back, up to a maximum of €100,000 per person, per bank. Banks contribute to the Deposit Guarantee Fund (DGF), provide data to DNB for the execution of the DGS, and offer their customers information about the DGS. DNB has elaborated the DGS obligations for banks in policy rules, guidance and information. In doing so, DNB transposes into Dutch law the revised DGS Directive (2015).

As a DSG Coordinator, you are an SME on DGS reporting to DNB, responsible for the Operational and Governance aspects of the DGS process. You act as DGS coordinator with primary focus on the governance aspects.

The COO Finance department

The COO Finance department delivers Risk & Finance related services to its stakeholders, i.e. Group Finance, country CFO’s and Wholesale Banking, Risk, Tax and Bank Treasury. These services encompass operations and change initiatives for accounting, reporting, data foundation and business advice services, including system, process, data and information management, and analytics capabilities.

Your responsibilities

In cooperation with a small team you:

  • Coordinate the operational DGS reporting processes: aligning with colleagues in various countries, Operations, Finance and ICT to ensure timely, high quality and compliant delivery of the periodical DGS reports and datasets to the DNB.
  • Acts as point of contact to the DNB
  • Manage the end 2 end DGS process flow including system and data requirements, risks, controls, RACI-matrix and areas for improvement
  • Manage implementation of new requirements in close cooperation with the ICT colleagues
  • Facilitate audits by the internal audit department and external auditors

How to succeed 

We are looking for an energetic and driven expert with strong controls and analytical capabilities who uses state-of-the-art methods and techniques for business analysis. You have integral, domain-exceeding knowledge of Finance.

You are an excellent communicator and able to build bridges between different stakeholders. You are able to convincingly put forward your proposals and are a real team player in reaching broad agreement on the road to follow. In this way, you can contribute to delivering standardised, uniform and fully adapted solutions to complex Finance issues and processes. 

  • University (Bachelor’s/Master’s) degree in (business) economics or a comparable field
  • 8-12 years of hands on experience implementing and designing functional solutions in a financial institution
  • Banking products knowledge
  • Knowledge of and experience with regulatory reporting, preferably on DGS
  • Hands on experience with SQL and MS Excel
  • Affinity towards Data Model / Database
  • Excellent Communication skills, written communication and power to convince
  • Very strong team player; pro-active, ability to connect, positive mind-set, flexibility, focused on cooperation and sharing knowledge
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written)
