Jr. Regulatory Consultant in Credit Risk in Amsterdam

The opportunity 

We are looking for an visionary, people-oriented Consultant with regulatory experience within the Credit Risk tribe. The Consultant is reporting to the Credit Risk Tribe Lead and is structurally positioned under the COO Risk and the Transition Lead for Credit Risk Modelling.

Credit Risk is right at the heart of the Bank's complexity. All Wholesale Banking and Retail exposures need to be reported in an accurate, consistent and timely way to our internal and external stakeholders. The way we value our exposures is subject to complex and constantly changing regulatory and also tax requirements. All this complexity is captured into highly sophisticated partially home build credit risk capabilities. Knowledge of the Bank's products, latest regulations/legislations, modelling principles and its underlying intellect, technology solutions and excellent stakeholder management skills are required to be able to adequately act, anticipate, comment, advice and respond to ongoing and upcoming changes.

Role and responsibilities 

COO Risk delivers baseline and change activities for the Risk Organization. Our vision and purpose for COO Risk is twofold:

1] We take explicit ownership of end-to-end regulatory transformation work.

2] We provide best in class data, insights and advice which empower our consumers to control, explain, predict, and optimise the performance of ING. We play a critical role at ING and service all business lines CRO’s and CFO’s of the Bank.

  • Take ownership of end-to-end Credit Risk model implementation efforts [SA, Foundational and IRB] and orchestrate communication end-to-end including internal and external stakeholder management
  • Take seat in the overarching the ‘Air Traffic Control’ team to steer the full portfolio of CR Modelling change work from modelling approach definition up to post go-live monitoring
  • Implementation of the model to ensure proper assignment of rating classes assessment in accordance with the established policies that provide oversight throughout on the rating processes in the bank
  • Examine the adequacy and adaptability of business processes related to the model [e.g. pricing, decision-making, risk management, validation, capital calculation]
  • Ensure that the implementation of the model is in accordance with the prescribed and established policies that provide oversight throughout on the rating processes and IT systems and procedures, e.g.  if overrides are allowed, human judgement has to be applied in the rating process
  • Support the construction of important design topic [e.g. scoping engine, substitution approach] and the resolution of ad hoc impediments
  • Constantly interact with all internal (CRO’s, CFO’s COO's, WB and C&G SR management, Tribe Leads, IT and Risk) and various external stakeholders to be able to construct, explain and maintain an all-inclusive and end-to-end aligned execution roadmap
  • Pro-actively anticipate on changes in the regulatory landscape to be able to adjust the roadmap swiftly if required

  • Education at University with a Master degree
  • Current residency in the Netherlands
  • 0-3 years of regulatory work experience [e.g. at ECB, DNB, APRA, KNF] is an important plus
  • Proven track record at management level and experience in Banking or Financial regulators
  • Knowledge of Credit Risk Models and track record of exposure with regulators
  • Proven record of relevant change execution experience preferably with international exposure
  • Knowledge of the latest regulations
  • Understanding of complex Banking Products, Modelling approaches, Hedge Accounting processes and Liquidity management principles
  • A solid and up-to-date understanding of ongoing and upcoming regulatory changes
  • Proven experience in large transformation programs with high impact
  • Excellent level of English
