Investment Analyst Eneco Smart Energy in Rotterdam

The Venturing Team is responsible for the scouting, selecting and investing in start-ups and scale-ups, in assisting these companies to reach their full growth potential and facilitating strategic and commercial synergies between these companies and Eneco. The Venturing Team is part of the business unit Eneco Smart Energy, which aims to realise exponential growth of new businesses. In addition to investing, we do this by developing our own new products and services by seeking valuable partnerships with large and small innovative companies. Important growth areas include amongst others (electric) mobility, solar & storage and smart home & IoT. All innovation domains have their own internal development teams who work closely together with the Venturing Team to jointly assess opportunities for investments and cooperation.

As Investment Analyst you are part of the Venturing Team of Smart Energy. We are responsible for scouting and selection of the most promising start-ups and scale-ups, for execution of the transaction as well as portfolio management of our investments. This means that you will be working with new, innovative companies, assisting in the investment process and in the support we offer to the management teams in growing the company and creating value beyond a financial return. As Investment Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

• Analyzing interesting startups and markets
• Assisting in the transaction process, including the execution of due diligence, valuation and preparation of investment proposals
• Evaluating of business plans on financial, strategic and commercial basis
• Working with our Investment Managers and the management teams of our portfolio companies on various topics, including shareholder and board decisions, long-term strategic plans and forecasts, reporting and monitoring of performance
• Helping to facilitate cooperation between our portfolio companies and other Eneco business units to create value

• Academic (WO) level and 0 – 2 years of work experience, preferably in (corporate) finance, M&A, consulting or business development, including financial modelling / analysis, business evaluation
• Preferably experience in or affinity with sustainable energy, start-ups / scale-ups and other innovative business models
• Enthusiastic professional, self-starting and hands-on attitude, practical approach to challenges, strong team spirit and clear sense of responsibility
• Fluent in Dutch & English
